Field Applications Engineer-EE/SW Touch Screen Module

We are looking for a talented Field Applications Engineer to be the main technical interface with our customers for all firmware, electrical, and software matters for our Fusion touch display products.  Fusion touch displays are a line of integrated projected capacitive touch screen modules.  After launching this product line in mid-2010 and securing a number of key customers, we are looking for more extraordinary people to join our growing team to continue shaping the business into the clear market leader.


  • Help customers integrate touch modules into new and existing designs and get into mass production
  • Primary interface between customers, engineering team in China, and application engineering team in US for electrical, firmware, and software (driver) related issues
  • Customize touch controller firmware for different customers
  • Understands customer’s needs and end application and provides recommended solutions from Touch Revolution product portfolio
  • Works directly with customers to provide in-depth technical support on electrical and software issues and basic front-line support for mechanical issues
  • Performs system-level design reviews with customers to provide integration guidance
  • On-site customer engineering discussions as required prior to manufacturing launch
  • Help customers set up test fixtures and perform quality inspections
  • Prepare and deliver product demonstrations and provide sales support to Sales and Product Management teams
  • Track issues in bug tracking system and drive to resolution with cross-functional team
  • Create and manage the execution of internal product validation and QA test plan with China-based testing team
  • Creates new reliability and performance test practices based on customer requests and market-specific requirements
  • Maintain electronics lab for debug, failure analysis, and validation of touch modules
  • Researches unique technical requirements of touch-screens used in various vertical markets together with Product Manager
  • Project management as required
  • Creates product specifications, user guides, product manuals, and other support documentation
  • Benchmarks Touch Revolution products to the competition and supports product roadmap initiatives. Suggests product modifications to assure that current and future products meet customers’ needs
  • Conduit for technical enhancements requested by customer to engineering design team
  • Position is located in Redwood City, California


  • 2+ years of experience in engineering or customer support role in electronics industry
  • BS degree in EE, CS, Computer Engineering, or similar is preferred
  • Experience with integrating LCDs, touch panels, or similar components into embedded systems
  • Proficient in low-level programming languages (C, etc.), Linux, microcontroller firmware programming, schematic design, and embedded systems software
  • Must be proficient with basic electronics lab equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer), bench testing techniques, and soldering
  • Previous direct customer interaction and support experience is strongly preferred
  • Willing to travel 10-20% of time to visit manufacturing sites and customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required to represent company in a professional manner
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects and support many customers at once while holding to strict schedules and deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter and able to perform in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions
  • Proven ability of working with decentralized engineering, sales, and customer teams across multiple locations
  • Must have experience working with overseas engineering and/or manufacturing teams
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus
